Yesterday (23rd January 2011), I attended this months Sunday evening folk music session at the Hunters Inn, Heddon Valley, North Devon, Exmoor and, as I sat next to the log fire playing tunes and thought about the magnificent new eating area at the back of the hotel with its enormous new window looking out over the hotel gardens and stream, it struck me that the Hunters Inn must now be one of the best romantic hotel weekend dinner getaway destinations in North Devon or possibly even the West Country.
This Hunters Inn fourth Sunday folk music session was hosted by the affable Ian Hudson, well known local artist and folk singer, on a turnaround basis where each performer has an equal opportunity to play a tune or sing a song and in the course of the evening there were a great range of tunes and songs from Klezmer through to West Country romances (ideal considering the romantic log fire setting).
So, if you are looking for a romantic evening or weekend seated gazing into the eyes of somebody who is important to you, it could be worth while checking out the Hunters Inn, North Devon. Nestling in the beautiful Heddon Valley, Exmoor, and close to the sea, it is in a beautiful location and the recent building developments have introduced some very fine features.
And, if you happen to be there on the fourth Sunday of the month, you might even get the opportunity of listening to some tunes and songs performed by some excellent local folk musicians too. (Always check with Hunters Inn friendly proprietor David Orton before booking or travelling far in case circumstances and schedules change).
