The Ring o' Bells at Prixford, Barnstaple, North Devon rocked last night to a great evenings live music entertainment provided by local musicians playing traditional English, Irish and other popular tunes from around the world.
Located in the sleepy Devon countryside village of Prixford (about three and a half miles from Barnstaple), Rob Jenkins does a great job of attracting musicians to this once a month pub music session with his easy-going and welcoming approach to visiting musicians.
There were three members of Bloatertown there last night Al (melodeon and concertina), Pam who plays hammer dulcimer and Rob.
If you enjoy a dance, Bloatertown have also organised a benefit gig for the Haiti appeal on the 19th Febrary 2010 at Alverdiscott village hall. Its an evening of dance and song, with Bloatertown (caller John Blackburn), Roger Cockram,Tom and Barbara Brown, Shake a Leg and others. All are most welcome tickets £8 bring your own food and drink but soft drinks and nibbles are provided. There's a raffle etc all to raise as much as possible.
If you would like to listen to some free live music pub entertainment on the first Tuesday evening of the month, the Ring o' Bells is a pub music session worth checking out. (Always telephone the Ring o' Bells before travelling to ensure the session is taking place as arrangements might change).
If you are a local traditional English or Irish musician or any other sort of musician and enjoy getting together for a musical bash, I'm sure Rob will make you most welcome.
Bye for now

Are you going to the Prixford session tonight?
No, but there's a great ceilidh on Saturday 12th June at Tawstock Village Hall, featuring GBH, an English Ceilidh band consisting of three of the country's finest Ceilidh musicians. They play traditional lumpy English music that will make you want to dance. Pay at the door or reserve tickets in advance by phoning 01237 476632.
