Wimborne Folk Festival 2007 reviewed

Wimborne Folk Festival 2007 was OK. There were heaps of Morris sides dancing all over the place which was quite entertaining, stalls to buy stuff from and crowds of people.

Over the Saturday and Sunday, I even visited the Wimborne Conservative Club (scary, see previous post on Wimborne Folk festival) to check out the sessions. There were two bars downstairs, each with an Irish session and upstairs there was a rather good singaround with lots of good singing talent.

The Saturday evening was rather rowdy with lots of young people everywhere getting very drunk and clustering about the pubs in their hordes. Quite intimidating, although there were lots of Police. Queues for the paid concerts seemed very long.

Wimborne Folk Festival seems like a great folk festival for Morris dancing and singarounds but, to me, not much feeling of community.

Bye for now

Rob
